Original item: One only. Even in Georgian and Victorian times I can not imagine Bandsmen actually being required to enter combat with the enemy. However they were, at that time required to carry a sword, albeit a small one.

Here is a typical VICTORIAN era Drummer's sword with brass hilt and crossguard with a molded "V.R." right in the cross guard on both sides. It has a double edged blade measuring 19", the overall length being 25". Found in a barn the blade is as found and uncleaned. The brass hilt has been polished and this exposed a Regimental marking down one side of the grip:

93RD REGT. OF FOOT
The 93rd Regiment of foot was originally raised in 1799 from the Sutherland Fencibles, and called the 93rd (Highland) Regiment of Foot. They took part in the War of 1812 and fought at the Battle of New Orleans. In the Crimean War this Regiment was the one at the Battle of Balaclava which because of their great bravery became known as:
